Polypropylene is a bi-product of the petro-chemical industry and is produced in small pellets called ‘chips’. These are melted and colour added in the fibres molten state, which gives the fibre a natural resistance to staining and soiling. Polypropylene carpets are known as being easy to clean, in fact they can be cleaned with a solution of bleach. The method of production also gives polypropylene a greater resistance to fading than most other carpets.
In terms of cost polypropylene offers great value for money and is generally considered the most cost effective flooring solution.
